Step1a - Stroking a stationary PracticeHit ball
Coach demonstrates preparation followed by a completes stroke in slow motion, emphasizing every aspect of
the critical points during the stroke and follow through. Then stops and positions the oscillating ball back
into optimum contact position and repeats the demonstration. Power is increased as students progress.
1b Student duplicates the slow motion stroke and coach makes required corrections. Students are permitted
to increase power as progress justifies. |

Step2a - Stroking a PracticeHit ball in motion
Coach uses basic footwork to stroke the PracticeHit ball on every 2nd or 3rd return oscillation, to keep the ball in motion.
2b Student duplicates the slow motion stroke and coach corrects as required and permits students to increase power as progress
justifies. Coach drop-bounces balls to selected students, as remaining students continue drill 2b. |

Step 3a - Stroking a PracticeHit ball in close proximity of the optimum hitting zone
Coach completes precise PracticeHit stroke and footwork drills in slow motion, emphasizing every aspect of the critical
footwork positioning.
3b Student duplicates the slow motion stroke and coach corrects as required and permits students to increase power as
progress justifies. Coach feeds short balls to selected students as remaining students continue PracticeHit drills. |

Step 4a - Meeting and stroking a ball directed outside of the basic hitting zone
Coach completes balanced and controlled footwork drills required for positioning to stroke the PracticeHit ball then
bounces back to the tee to assume ready position, then bounces back, to again stroke the ball to keep it in motion.
(Coaches will require lesson preparation time to acclimatize to timing requirements.)
4b Student duplicates stroke and footwork technique and coach corrects as required. Coach extends feed distance and feeds
balls to selected students while other students continue PracticeHit drills. |

Step 5 - Students may develop the use of the recoil ball
Master quick stroke reaction technique by using the Tennis Recoil Ball and repeatedly practicing the difficult
reaction stroke required to return a volley. Note: The recoil ball returns quickly as if hit by a volley at the net. |
